Rodrigo Simas said on Tuesday (5/16) that he had no plans to come out as bisexual. While he was a relief, the actor revealed that he has faced outside allegations.
During an event at the Copacabana Palace, the “Malhação” heartthrob confessed that he felt “more mature” to bring his sexuality to the fore. “I wasn’t going to tell and talk about anything. I think it’s a more mature moment. I think everyone has their own moment to talk about it,” he said.
“When they asked me, it was a relief somewhere, a huge pleasure, a pride to say who I am. I think that’s exactly it, this thing of having to take a stand, who you are, you just are,” she added.
Then, Rodrigo revealed that he was afraid of exposing himself a few years ago due to his artistic career. “I’ve been accused a lot already and had a lot of crises, fears in various places. Talking about ten years ago, my career was still a big concern, [ter que] fall somewhere in heteronormativity, this being considered a heartbreaker thing. That all mattered a lot,” the actor said.
“But I was super happy to talk about it and it was super natural. We still live in a world with a lot of labels and, unfortunately, with a lot of prejudice, a lot of homophobia, biphobia, people who marginalize transvestites. All of this I think the community tries to defend ourselves a lot, but we have to stop putting it as a taboo,” Rodrigo stressed.
Finally, Rodrigo Simas celebrated his coming out when he accepted to work on the show “Prazer, Hamlet”, a show about a character whose sexuality is treated in a questionable way. The work is on display in Rio de Janeiro.
“I was very happy to talk about it at the time with the subject turning to the theater, you know? Because it has a lot to do with the fact that in the play Hamlet’s sexuality is discussed. nobility, society and everything. It’s a moment very important that I was happy with, but it didn’t change my life because I am already who I am, you know?
