Tiago Iorc is admitted to hospital with a hernia and warns: ‘Take care of your health’

The singer Tiago Iorc revealed that he was rushed to hospital this weekend due to a herniated cervical disc. In a post on Instagram, the musician declared that he was well, explained that his state of health was caused by bad posture and took the opportunity to issue a warning and a request to his followers.

According to the musician, one of the reasons for the hernia is related to the fact that he spends a lot of time with his head lowered and his neck in an inappropriate position. “I was rushed to the hospital due to a herniated disc in my neck, caused by poor posture over the years… from being tall, from playing the guitar, from spending too much time on my cell phone (our contemporary problem)… basically, from keeping my head down and my neck bent for a long time.”

According to the artist, this is not the first time he has had a similar crisis and surgery was recommended to him four years ago. Sometimes, however, he was able to overcome the condition with less invasive treatments, such as osteopathy, physiotherapy and pilates.

“Over time I neglected these precautions and fell into the trap of thinking that, since I didn’t feel pain, everything was fine. But these postural errors accumulate and in the end the bill arrives. And it arrived yesterday, without mercy”, confessed the musician, explaining which medical intervention will be carried out this Sunday the 12th.

“Since the pain is very disconcerting (I can’t even find a sleeping position) and since I have important work and travel commitments, the doctors have recommended surgery to block the inflammatory process with injections in the affected areas of the spine. Now I will have the surgery. Send good energy,” he asked.

Finally, Tiago took the opportunity to warn fans to take care of their health. “The main message I want to leave you is: take care of your body, take care of your diet, take care of your head. Take care of your health! This daily care prevents many things!”

What is a cervical disc herniation?

According to the Albert Einstein Hospital, the term “hernia” is used to describe any organ that moves from its place of origin to another location through an “abnormal” opening.

Cervical disc herniation occurs when the intervertebral disc, a kind of shock absorber found between the vertebrae, moves from its normal position and touches the cervical nerve or root. The condition generates compression and inflammation of the root, and the pain usually starts in the neck and radiates to the upper extremities.
