The presenter died at the age of 60, in 2019, but the fight over his assets still drags on in court

The dispute over the inheritance of 1 billion reais left by the presenter Gugu Liberato, who died in 2019, at the age of 60, after a domestic accident in the United States, is still in court. The newspaper The globe carried out an investigation into part of the assets affecting Gugu’s disputed assets.

Houses, investments in banks and even television studios are part of the legacy of the communicator who, in his will, left 75% of his fortune (R$750 million) to his three children, João Augusto, 21, Marina and Sofia, 19, and 25% for five grandchildren (R$ 250 million).

  • Investments in banks, monetary institutions and shares on the stock exchange, which amount to at least BRL 190 million;
  • Television studio complex in São Paulo, on an estimated 8,500 m2 plot BRL 60 million;
  • Building in an apartment building in the capital of São Paulo, with a facade inspired by the White House rated at 15 million reais;
  • Residence in Orlando, USA with five suites rated at BRL 6.7 million;

The relatives and the eldest son of the presenter, João Augusto, defend the fulfillment of the will left by the communicator and drawn up in 2011, as well as the permanence of the aunt, Aparecida Liberato, as administrator of the assets left by Gugu. Determination made by the communicator in the will.

Twins Marina and Sofia defend the inclusion of their mother, Rose Miriam de Mateo, in the dispute. Rose was excluded from the presenter’s will and is fighting in court for recognition of the stable union with Gugu, which would give him at least 50% of the fortune.

The dispute over the inheritance began a few hours after the funeral of the presenter. Rose Miriam signed and accepted her will, Rose Miriam contested how the estate would be divided.

Lawyers representing Gugu Liberato’s assets counter Rose Miriam and claim that the communicator left her, while she was alive, a villa in Alphaville, São Paulo – worth R $ 6 million -, as well as US $ 500,000 in investments .
