Not the Second Scully: What Gillian Anderson’s Adult Daughter Who Made X-Files History Looks Like Now

The first season of the cult paranormal series The X-Files debuted on September 10, 1993. And almost a year later – on September 25, 1994 – female lead Gillian Anderson became a mother. She had a daughter, whose name was Piper Maru. The father of the child was the assistant production designer on the site, Clyde Klotz – in general, there was a romance in the office.

The lead actress’ pregnancy in the midst of a promising project might have angered the showrunners and questioned her participation in the series, but Chris Carter was not that kind of “Karabas Barabas”. Not only did he defend the actress in front of Fox studio bosses who wanted to kick Anderson out, but he also rewrote the script to buy time for Gillian’s maternity leave.

Carter wrote hastily into the episode with Scully’s alien abduction and gave the actress 10 days off so she could give birth safely and at least recover a bit. He also became godfather to a newborn daughter and even named one of The X-Files episodes after her, immortalizing her in history. The 15th episode of the 3rd season is titled “Piper Maru”. At the age of six, the girl appeared with her mother in the film “Resident Joy”, but her Hollywood career seemed to end there. Unlike other celebrity kids, Piper didn’t sparkle at parties, fashion shows, and in the paparazzi column.

What is she doing now?

It turns out that Piper just decided to follow in her father’s footsteps, not her mother’s. She trained as a theater designer and now works as an artist in theatre, film and television. In her free time, the girl also draws for the soul and shows her paintings to subscribers. Piper has a boyfriend, freerider and climate activist Ed Salesbury, whom she has been dating for six years.

And although Piper has chosen to stay behind the scenes, she does occasionally hang out with her famous mother on the red carpet. We are happy, because such a beauty has grown up – a way, and not a copy of Scully.
