‘They didn’t even serve water’: travel influencer complains about 6-hour flight with Avianca


Caio went from São Paulo to Bogotá and said that a bottle of water cost R$20




The influencer Caio Ramon, @caiotravels, traveled for more than six hours with the Avianca airline, in Bogotá, without water or food served. According to him, everything was paid for and charged in dollars, with a bottle of water costing R$20. The ticket wasn’t cheap either, costing around R$3,000.

He made two trips, the first from São Paulo to Bogotá on the 15th. Then he returned with the same company on the 26th. After the trips, on Tuesday the 30th, he decided to use social media to vent about his past situation.

“I asked for water and saw other passengers asking and them [companhia aérea Avianca] they charge in dollars, which is more than R$20 for a bottle! A simple ham and cheese sandwich costs more than R$30,” he shared indignantly.

In addition to the food alerts, Caio also complained that the company did not provide a blanket during the flight, even in the cold environment. Also, on some aircraft, the seats do not recline. Also, there is no television with entertainment in some cases.

One of the changes aims at personalizing services, they say. According to the company, this allows the customer to pay for what he will use or consume during the trip.

Is the service on board compulsory?

The Anac (National Civil Aviation Authority) specified that the on-board service is an accessory service to air transport and that it is not regulated by the agency. In this way, it is up to the airlines to decide whether or not to offer them to passengers.
