Prince testifies in the lawsuit against “Mirror Group Newspapers”, for alleged illegal collection of information
Prince Harry testified Tuesday, 6, in the trial against the Newspapers of the mirror group (MGN). He and other personalities accuse the publisher of Daily mirror, sunday mirror AND Sunday people widespread phone hacking and illegal intelligence gathering between 1991 and 2011.
During his testimony, Harry mentioned Prince William. Without naming his older brother by name, Harry contradicted him by speaking of his mother Princess Diana’s alleged paranoia over privacy issues.
“I’ve always heard people refer to my mother as paranoid, but she wasn’t. She was scared of what was really happening to her and now I know I was the same,” Harry said, according to the magazine. Newsweekwho had access to the report.
In May 2021, William said Newsweek that the press coverage caused his mother to suffer from paranoia. “It brings indescribable sadness to know that reporting has contributed significantly to your fear [de Diana]paranoia and isolation, which I remember from those last few years with her.”
Harry accuses the Sunday mirror of using illegal tactics for a story that contained “details of private conversations I had with my father [rei Charles III] about my future, mainly that I didn’t want to go to college and would rather join the military”, in 2003.
According to the prince, this type of reporting made him doubt people close to him, just like Diana did. “It was very confrontational. Only now, realizing what journalists [do MGN]and how they were getting their information, is I can see how much of my life has been wasted in this paranoia,” she said.
