Carmen Dell’Orefice, 92, is the very first model in the world. The American was only 15 when, in the mid-1940s, she first appeared for a gloss – and only so as not to starve and help her family in the post-war period.

Carmen quit her career several times, then retired – but always returned to the podium.

Many times the reason for the break in her modeling career was relationships with men. Carmen has been married several times, and even now, over 90, she is not alone – and periodically meets different gentlemen.

“I think I have the power of the kiss of death. Every time I found a partner for a serious relationship, he died,” Carmen confessed to reporters a few years ago. And she explained that because of this, she prefers light, non-binding novels.

“When a man wants to go out with me, I always let him know. And I say, ‘Live, don’t die!'” jokes the model.

It’s likely that the death of Carmen’s chosen ones is age-related – after all, she’s unlikely to choose men much younger than her. However, the particular title of “angel of death” suits Dell’Orefice’s image very well. After all, it’s not without reason that her enduring beauty seems so magical!
