Bruna Marquezine may not embody the character of Jenny again in future DC Studios productions. Understand the reasons.
Bruna Marchezine is one of the main stars of the movie ‘Blue Beetle’, with expected release date for August this year. However, it is rumored that the passage of the Brazilian actress by DC, the studio responsible for the work, is short-lived and reduced only to the feature film starring Xolo Maridueña.
The speculation came after an interview with writer and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn on the “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast. In the chat he explained that “Blue Beetle” is part of the DC Extended Universe, or simply DCEU, a franchise that should conclude in December with the release of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”. The next franchise, DC Universe (DCU), is already in development by DC and should officially start in 2025 with “Superman: Legacy”.
In the podcast interview, James confirmed that the superhero “Blue Beetle” will be in the DCU, even if he’s from the old franchise. The statement has led many DC fans to believe that Xolo’s character will be the only one to participate in future productions.
However, this is not yet a definitive announcement. The next DCU movies are still in the early stages of pre-production and if Jenny is very successful, there’s a good chance that Bruna will be cast again.
