Globo actor says he underwent ‘gay cure’ treatment when he assumed homosexuality

Today airing as Anthony Verão in ‘Vai Na Fé’, Orlando Caldeira has had several sessions with a parapsychologist

Actor Orlando Caldeira, 38, has revealed he underwent “gay cure” treatment after assuming his sexuality. The situation happened in 2003, and he was 18 when he revealed to his family that he was a gay man.

“In order to help me, among many quotes, my mother took me to a parapsychologist to have a regression session. And he promised me that he would cure me, with a very bizarre mentality about ‘gay cure’. My mother spent a a lot of money in these sessions, completely in the illusion,” the actor recalled, in an interview with Show.

Orlando, which is now airing as Anthony Verão go with faith, by Globo, attended sessions for a while, until his mother decided to take him to a psychologist. It was then that the family received notice that there was no problem with him.

“It was her [a mãe de Orlando] who had to deal with this situation. And today I have the opportunity to be able to speak openly about my orientation. I feel I am bringing a positive message to families, to understand and address this issue naturally, lightly, with love and respect,” she added.

fear of revelation

Orlando Caldeira also admitted that he is already scared of assuming his sexuality and end up missing out on business opportunities. However, today this is no longer your concern.

As he assessed, this discrimination is “passed” and has already become “obsolete”.

“I live my choice freely, my life. But I understand that even as I circulate in environments that already have a different understanding of these issues, the agenda continues to happen until it is common across all environments and spaces” , he added.

According to him, being able to play Anthony in the storyline is an opportunity to overcome stereotypes and humanize the LGBTQIA+ person.

“The LGBTQIA+ person is not a thing. There is a human being who suffers, who loves, who cries, who envies, who aspires and who lives. It is a great gift for me to play Anthony and understand the curves this character has made and will still do in the storyline,” she remarked, praising author Rosane Svartman’s writing.
