McFly have released their latest album, entitled “Power To Play”, with references to the 80s. In the rock record, the British band questions modern playlists and the absence of musical instruments.
In an interview with Quem magazine, musicians Tom Fletcher (vocals and guitar) and Dougie Poynter (vocals and bass) commented on the importance of the seventh artistic project. They bet all the chips on the “new” style of music.
“We were saying it’s the most upbeat album we’ve released in a long time. It’s so fun and honestly, we love it. It’s exactly the kind of music we love right now,” said Tom.
“If I wasn’t in the band, I’d love to hear it. I mean, I like it and I’m in the band, but if I was out of the band, I think it would be my favorite album.” added Dougie.
On the nostalgia record, McFly taunt their fans with songs about “making bad decisions” and “[o que] it’s good for the soul and helps you deal with the pain”. The band has developed lyrics that carry a melodic emo imprint with pop rock flavorings, their trademark.
Finally, Dougie Poynter revealed that he has plans for McFly’s next tour in Brazil: “We’re trying to plan it at the moment. Hopefully next year. We’re just talking about dates and things at the moment. When is summer in Brazil? Why? We follow the sun”.
