Clarkson revealed that Braun “took offense” after advising Taylor Swift. Understand!
In a recent interview with Andy Cohen for a special SiriusXM Town Hall, kelly clarkson commented on the advice he gave to Taylor Swift during the singer’s legal battle with Braun scooters and his former label Big Machine Records in 2019.

I knew it was important to her, so I thought, ‘Why don’t you record them again? Fans of hers will support her.’ Literally, she’s a genius,” Clarkson explained. “She’s not only recording, but she’s also planned this Eras Tour—like, this woman is genius.”
The advice in question came via a tweet from Clarkson shortly after the talent manager closed a million-dollar deal with the record company, which allowed him to gain control of songs from Swift’s first six albums.
In the message, Kelly wrote: “Just a thought, you should come in and re-record all the songs you don’t have the masters exactly as you did them, but put in new artwork and some kind of incentive so fans don’t buy the old versions anymore. I’d buy all the new ones versions just to prove a point”.
According to Clarkson, the advice did not sit well with Braun. “Scooter took offense to that… We met and he reached out to my manager at the time. I was like, ‘It was nothing against him,'” she explained. “When she came out and said it and I heard about it, I was like, ‘Whatever you want. Record them again. Your fans will have your back.’ Uh, they did. He’s got all the best records right now in the charts!”
Despite not speaking to Kelly directly, Scooter reached out to his manager. “He called my manager as soon as I found out, and I think he thought I was attacking him. I didn’t even know all the information,” he recalled.
“All I heard was, ‘Dude, I really want to own this,’ and I was like, ‘Dude, this song.’ She writes it all down! It’s so important to her. She’s a business woman. It felt wrong that she didn’t have the opportunity. Right? That’s the question. If you have the opportunity and choose not to pay so much money, that’s one thing , but not having the opportunity to own something that’s really important to you… I’m not that artist. I don’t care what I own”has continued. “I’m not a business woman.”
Clarkson added that she wasn’t “thanked” by Swift for the advice, but remains a huge fan of the star. “I think it’s brilliant”, he said. “She would have come up with it herself and maybe she had it before I even tweeted about it.”
