Dozens of environmental violations related to the construction of an artificial lake have been found

Player Neymar was fined, this Monday, 3, more than 16 million reais for environmental infringements relating to work in his Palace in Mangaratibaon the south coast of Rio de Janeiro. The councilor for the environment of the municipality reported that the player was given four fines, due to irregularities in the construction of an artificial lake.

In the legal opinion that determines the fines, dozens of infringements were ascertained, described in 46 pages. Of these, four stand out:

• Execution of works subject to environmental control without authorization;
• Collection and derivation of river waters without authorisation;
• Movement and removal of vegetation without authorization;
• Violation of the embargo.

The Department of the Environment, in addition to imposing the fine, also communicated the facts ascertained to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Civil Police, the Environmental Protection Office and the other environmental control bodies.
