Journalist Hildegard Angel has started a movement on social networks in which she calls for an autopsy on the body of singer Gal Costa, who died in November last year at the age of 77. The request comes after a magazine report Piauì bringing complaints of financial scams, moral harassment and threats against the entrepreneur Wilma Petrillo, widow of the artist.
“From the recent revelations, Gal Costa’s admirers acquire a sudden awareness that the singer’s ‘causa mortis’ does not convince us. We want a clear answer,” wrote the journalist on Instagram on Thursday 6.
Complaints against Wilma
The July issue of the magazine Piauì presents a report in which he addresses the past of the entrepreneur Wilma Petrillo, who for almost three decades maintained a personal and professional relationship with the singer Gal Costa.
Authored by journalist Thallys Braga, the article, entitled “A ViĂşva de Gal Costa”, begins with an account of an embarrassing scene involving Gal and Wilma backstage at a concert in 2012, in VitĂłria da Conquista, Bahia. At the time Wilma, according to the magazine, would have been taken to the police station to testify under the accusation of having threatened and persecuted the doctor of Bahia, Bruno Prado. Gal, not knowing what really happened, would be cornered backstage at the show, afraid to come in and sing.
Shortly before, again according to what was reported by the magazine, Bruno had lent the sum of R$ 15 thousand to Wilma, who had refused to repay the money. The threats allegedly committed by the businesswoman concerned the doctor’s privacy. An incident report was recorded – part of it is reproduced in the report. The doctor claims he had to leave Brazil to escape Wilma’s persecution.
Wilma’s lawyer, Ricardo Kopke Salinas, sent a letter to the magazine warning that the allegations “start from generic premises, without support in concrete facts, false and slanderous”.
The report released by the magazine delves into Wilma’s past. It concerns her family background and her marriage, even to a doctor, which took her to New York, where the entrepreneur ended up getting along with model and actress Sonia Braga.
Wilma was also a model. She also starred in a clip alongside singer Agnaldo TimĂłteo and walked for fashion brands. Prior to his relationship with Gal, he was in partnership with architect Margarida Jacy, with whom he would be a partner. In the report, Margarida accuses Wilma of failing to pay her a sum that corresponded to half of the land they had acquired together.
A Piauì he also reports debts and financial shenanigans in which Wilma is allegedly involved and which directly affected Gal’s life. Former employees accuse Wilma of moral harassment and of often working in the office without her top clothes. Some, according to the magazine, have called for justice seeking redress. Managers and producers also report instances where the manager allegedly failed to fulfill contractual obligations or refused to sign previously agreed concert contracts.
The report has also been heard by other personalities such as the actress LĂşcia VerĂssimo, who talks about the years of calm spent with Gal, in contrast to the turbulent life that the magazine tells about the years in which the singer was with Wilma. In addition to financial matters, the Piauì he claims that Wilma called Gal “old” and “fat”.
Another unpublished data brought by the report concerns the cause of Gal’s death. According to the text, the death certificate cites two alleged causes: acute myocardial infarction and malignant tumor of the skull and neck. The singer’s body was not autopsied.
