The husband forgave love for another: the secrets of the personal life of Vera Vasilyeva

At the age of 97, one of the brightest Soviet actresses, Vera Vasilyeva, died. Until her last days, the theater and film star remained in top form: she dressed elegantly, never forgot about style and, of course, continued to work. The personal life of the actress has always caused public envy (her husband Vladimir Ushakov literally idolized her) and surprise – Vasilyeva herself loved another all her life and did not hide it from her husband. Let’s see how this triangle was born.

The first and only love in the life of Vera Vasilyeva, according to her confession, was director Boris Ravenskikh, who was 11 years older than her. They met in 1949 while working on the play “Marriage with dowry”. Vasilyeva immediately fell in love with him – the bright, talented, passionate about his work, Ravenskikh immediately captured the imagination of the young actress, who was just beginning her career. The man was married, but Vera Vasilyeva could not cope with his feelings. And soon she felt that Ravenskikh was not indifferent to her.

Their romance lasted seven years. This is how Vasilyeva herself remembered him.

“For the sake of my beloved, I was ready for anything – to fulfill any of his desires, to follow him anywhere, but what is it – to lay down my life, if necessary! The highest reward is to be near him and to know that I am loved too. Love twisted me into a mad whirlwind. Our relationship was perfect. In my view. Maybe another woman would think differently. Still, I wasn’t a legal wife, I didn’t know if I was going to be, but it didn’t matter. The main thing is that I am loved!

The actress, captivated by feelings, did not notice that at that moment a boy, actor Vladimir Ushakov, looked at her with loving eyes. He fell in love with Vasilyeva at first sight and tried in every possible way to locate the girl. But he had to wait. Vera Kuzminichna drew attention to himself only when her relationship with the Ravenskys ended.

The actress herself realized that she had ceased to occupy an important place in the life of her beloved man – for him, art was in the first place, and then a difficult and nervous stage a started when the director was to direct the Maly theatre. Vasilyeva was also worried while waiting for the first Ravensky premiere, but for some reason he suddenly did not call her. Having spent the evening under her windows, Vasilyeva realized that it was better to end it right away.

Immediately after breaking up with the director, Vasilyeva agreed to marry Ushakov. In 1956 they played a wedding – and since then they have not parted. The couple lived together all their life – until Ushakov’s death in 2011. The husband surrounded Vasilyeva with incredible care – even when they were still living in a hostel, he hired a housekeeper so that no household troubles bother his beloved and she does not have to stand in front of the stove. Vasilyeva herself admitted that she did not know how to cook at all.

The fact that the heart of his chosen one was given to another, he knew – and forgave his wife. And Vasilyeva in this “convenience” marriage found incredible harmony, support and … again the very feeling that was already so dear to her – to be loved.

“With him, I felt like behind a stone wall, and security is worth a lot. I appreciated Volodya very much, I cherished him. We lived a long and prosperous life in which no one broke anyone, allowing us to remain ourselves, which is extremely important for a family union.

But the children of the spouses did not appear. In recent years, Vasilyeva called her daughter named Daria Miloslavskaya, whom she met shortly after Ushakov’s death. The actress was happy to breastfeed a woman’s daughter, Sveta, whom she treated as her granddaughter.
