Blake Fielder-Civilthe ex-husband of Amy Winehouse, reflected on the singer’s untimely death last Thursday (14), the day the star would have turned 40. In an interview with Good morning Great BritainBlake vented and said he was freed from the guilt of Amy’s drug addiction.

“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to talk today,” Fielder-Civil admitted. “I can’t change how other people feel about it. But for me personally, I had to stop carrying this cross alone.”

I have carried this burden alone for over ten years. I feel, to be honest, I’m the only person in this story who’s ever taken any responsibility, who’s ever tried to say, “Yes, I made some huge mistakes.”

“I was a 20-year-old drug addict. I had no idea how to get sober, let alone how to do it with someone who was a big cog in the record company machine. And there were interests in Amy continuing to perform.” , He said.

According to Blake, he still thinks about the singer. “It’s sad, but I wanted to wish Amy a happy birthday. It’s devastating that she’s not here,” he has declared. “I think about her all the time, I thought about her this morning when I congratulated her, she was my best friend.”

If it weren’t for some factors, I think the outcome could have been different. It all happened very quickly for Amy. We were very young,” she added.

Blake and Amy met in 2005 and made their union official in 2007. The end of their marriage came two years later, in 2009. Together they experienced an intense relationship, surrounded by drug and alcohol addiction.

One of music’s biggest stars, Winehouse died at the age of 27, on July 23, 2011, due to excessive alcohol consumption.
