Meet Walewska Oliveira, the national team player who died at 43


Former volleyball player Walewska Oliveira, 43, died when she fell from the 17th floor of the building where she lived with her husband

Last Thursday evening (21/09), the former volleyball player Walewska Oliveira, 43 years old, died when she fell from the 17th floor of the building where she lived with her husband. Her body was found around 6.30pm.




Who is Walewska?

She was born in Belo Horizonte, and began her professional volleyball career with the Minas TĂȘnis Clube team, where she remained from 1995 to 1998. This year, the player was called up to the Brazilian national team for the first time, at just 19 years.

During her time with the women’s volleyball team, Walewska won a bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won gold in Beijing at the 2008 games.

She was one of the highlights of the Beijing Olympic Games and, in the same year, won her third Grand Prix volleyball championship. Without a doubt, Walewska has been and will continue to be an inspiration in the world of sports.
