Oh my God … Two more minutes later’; ‘For those who have studied it’s easy’; ‘Another thing, I don’t lose anything with this, don’t you see people? graduated and every month my salary is good for my account “; “Who ordered the material to be saved?
Here’s how one of the videos from Diego Cruz playing a teacher. The content exceeds the threshold of 11 million views on TikTok, now on Instagram there are more than 7 million.
On Instagram he already has 2.6 million followers and on TikTok there are 7.7 million people who follow the actor. “I’ve made videos of cinematic clichés and that’s what has given me a lot of exposure on social media, mainly because I’ve also included real-life clichés,” he says.
Actor, publicist, singer and songwriter, Diego focused on creating content for social networks and it was with his universe of characters that he became famous. Hours like the Professor, hours like Josh or Tracy: characters who experience situations that only films can represent.
Born (and resident) in Rio de Janeiro, the 28-year-old actor explains that the videos in which he explores school situations are the content he likes to do the most and the ones that “awaken different memories” of his life. Diego says that even though he studied in a private school, his experience with his mother, who is a teacher, provided him, from an early age, with an educational environment that helped him create these characters.
There is not a single teacher in Diego Cruz’s videos, in fact he creates several archetypes of teachers and some even have names, such as Tia Cris and Marcão, and explains that the characters of the school universe have emerged in an unassuming way. But, in the video comments, what really predominates is to call him “Maestro”. “Many people got to know me thanks to the teachers, coordinators and students. It’s something that makes me very happy.”
From mobile phone screen to Globe screen
It was on August 6, 2020 that he started posting his videos on the internet and betting on social media to invest in his acting career. But Diego jokes that he didn’t follow a cake recipe to reach so many people, in fact, he thought of creating something that he identified and appreciated as a viewer – and not just as a creator.
“There is no cake recipe for this, is there ?! What I do today gives me a lot of pleasure because he is happy that, as a spectator, I would consume. And I think it is the starting point, as well as having grit and dealing with how to work. from the start, “he says.
It was thanks to his work on social networks that Diego left his mobile screen and ended up on Rede Globo’s screen. The actor participated in the telenovela The more life, the better!aired between November 2021 and May of this year, in the role of São Judas Tadeu, and had the opportunity to star alongside Elizabeth Savalla, Marcos Caruso, Vladimir Brichta and other big names in Brazilian television.
“Having this opportunity was, without a doubt, one of the most special moments of my life. It was a great learning experience because I was a character in a light comedy. And today, I keep in touch mainly with Elizabeth Savalla, it seems she had a soul bonding even though our time together was short. I learned a lot from her and everyone who was there, “she says.
In addition to participating in the telenovela, Diego Cruz has already taken his characters [das redes sociais] work with other artists. The most recent photo was with Fátima Bernardes, in which Tracy, one of her characters, was interviewed by the Globo presenter.
Before Fatima, Angélica was cast as the mother of a “tiktoker student” who was to speak with Rosangela, the school coordinator. Cleo was another who joined the team of artists in Diego’s videos, recreating the famous reality reality discussion: understanding the vote on the wall.
Diego says that as much as he dreamed of these moments, he didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. “If a year and a half ago, when I started recording, I was told that Angélica or Fátima Bernardes would make a video with me, within my universe of content, I would think it was a joke. So, that’s something to behold. put your head on the pillow and be grateful, but also face it with a lot of responsibility, “he says.
Getting started on TikTok
Investing in content creation for TikTok wasn’t an easy decision. “I myself didn’t know much about what the platform was and when I decided to create content, I went to study it and I realized that there was a huge horizon of possibilities. At the time, it was something that the great mass thought was just for. kids and there was injury, but I never called no, “he says.
Remember that, at the time, people joked that he had become a “tiktoker”. “I know most people didn’t speak badly, sometimes it was because of a lack of knowledge of what TikTok could offer.”
The influencer believes there is still room for people who dream of working with digital content production. For him “the internet has come to democratize opportunities”. “There is a vast universe of content to be created and one piece of advice is to do something you really believe in, something true and, however cliché that may be, consistently,” he teaches.
