Journalist Cristina Ranzolin, who hosts Jornal do AlmoƧo on RBS TV, affiliated with Rede Globo in Rio Grande do Sul, said on social media that she has been diagnosed with mononucleosis, a viral disease. Since last Sunday, the 29th, she has been hospitalized in a hospital in the city of Porto Alegre.

Cristina shared the situation with her followers, explaining how it all started. She reported that, upon returning from holiday, she felt more tired than usual, which she attributed to the inevitable adjustment period after the break. However, the situation developed unexpectedly.

“I thought that was it, right? That I was a little more tired. And I kept going, I kept going. The other day I got windy, then I got a bit of a cold. I started self-medicating, which we should never do , right? ?”, revealed the journalist.

However, a warning sign appeared when fever appeared. She then consulted her doctors and underwent a series of tests. The concern that it was a case of Covid-19 was quickly discarded, as the result was negative. Despite this, Cristina’s health has not improved and last Sunday the situation worsened.

“I was really sick. Then the doctors ended up hospitalizing me, I’ve been in hospital since Sunday, I did a series of tests, a check-up”, reported the journalist. During the battery of tests, a virus called Epstein-Barr, responsible for mononucleosis, was identified. In Cristina’s case the disease manifested itself causing a lot of tiredness and intense fever.

Despite the hospitalization, the journalist declared that she is now better. “Luckily I’m better now, I think the peak of this disease is over.” However, doctors continue to investigate the possibility of an associated bacterial infection, which justifies his stay in hospital.

The presenter, with an optimistic tone, expressed her desire to return to her professional activity soon and concluded her words with a message to her viewers and admirers: “I hope that soon, I will be able to return. I just want to tell you and tell you that I also miss our JA [Jornal do AlmoƧo].”
