The eldest daughter clarifies the disappearance of Silvio Santos from TV: “He is not the same person”

Cintia Abravanel talks about the presenter’s difficulty in accepting the limits of old age

In an interview with Christina Rocha on ‘Christina PodTudo’, Cintia Abravanel spoke about the demand from the public and the press for her father, Silvio Santos, to return to recording on SBT.

“He is 93 years old. The Silvio Santos you want is on YouTube. He is no longer that person. It must also be difficult for him to no longer be that person,” said the presenter’s eldest daughter by his first wife, Maria Aparecida, who died of cancer at the age of 39 in 1977.

“He says, ‘I didn’t like playing him, getting old is really bad; everything hurts, my body hurts.’ It’s hard on the artistic side of him, he doesn’t wear the old body of him. And people don’t realize that Silvio Santos no longer exists,” laments the mother of Lígia, Lilian and Tiago Abravanel.

The 60-year-old artist said his father changed when he went to SBT to record the Sunday program, now under the direction of Patrícia Abravanel. “He IS there, old, the moment he puts on that microphone, he becomes Silvio Santos, he grows, he becomes an entity, a character”.

The presenter’s last recording was in September last year. Since then she has spent most of her time at his house in Morumbi, south of Sao Paulo. One of his last public appearances was during the elections, when he decided to go and vote.

Cintia Abravanel approves the passing of the baton to the sisters involved in the management of the family businesses, in particular the television broadcaster. “There is a new soul in SBT, with a new face, new minds. And it’s important to do it with him alive.”
