Miss Universe 2023: Sheynnis Palacios, from Nicaragua, is the winner of the most inclusive edition


The model became the first Nicaraguan woman to win the world competition. The Brazilian failed to qualify for the top 20 and was excluded from the title race this year

Sheynnis Palacios, from Nicaragua, was the winner of the 72nd edition of the Miss Universe, held this Saturday, November 18, in El Salvador. At 23, Sheynnis became the first Nicaraguan woman to win the world competition. Anntonia Porsild, 27, from Thailand, placed second. Third place went to Australian Moraya Wilson, 22 years old.

R’Bonney Gabriel, participant from the United States, elected in 2022, passed his crown to the new chosen one. Sheynnis is a model and holder of numerous beauty pageant titles.

Between candidatesthe gaucho Mary Brechane he was the Brazilian representative, after winning the Miss Brazil 2023. This year Brechane failed to qualify among the 20 finalists of the competition.

This edition of Miss Universe represented a milestone in the history of the competition, born in 1952. For the first time, two mothers, two trans women and a plus size woman participated in the competition. At the end of this year’s YouTube broadcast, it was announced that in 2024 the dispute will be held in Mexico.
