Influencer Raquel Pacheco, known as ‘Bruna Surfistinha’, was the subject of a civil police operation after being reported for abandoning pets. OR Earth discovered it that teams collected a dog and three cats from an apartment rented by Raquel in downtown Sao Paulo. According to the complaints, the influencer spent a week without going to the facility to look after the animals.

The case was reported on social media by activist Luisa Mell, who followed the operation in Raquel’s apartment last Thursday 30th, together with the police. Mell released images of the apartment, stained with animal urine and feces on the floor.

“‘Bruna Surfistinha’ lived in a rented apartment in the center of São Paulo, with four animals (a dog and three cats), and they were abandoned inside the apartment. Initially she showed up every now and then to feed them, but he doesn’t show up there for more than a week,” the activist said.

The investigation began after the manager and the building manager registered a complaint with the police for animal cruelty in the 3rd DP, in Campos Elísios. According to the documents, Raquel rented the apartment for six months, but she hasn’t paid for it for three months. They also reported that the influencer had left the property after the power was cut for non-payment.

On Thursday, police officers from the 2nd District of the Environmental Violations Investigation Division searched the apartment, rescued the animals and requested an appraisal. The property had also been the subject of complaints from residents due to the bad smell.

To the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, the influencer’s lawyer confirmed that she had stopped paying rent. According to him, the operation would have served as a “subterfuge to remove her in an improper and illicit manner” from the apartment. “Everyone has ups and downs in her life. She is struggling to raise two children who depend on her and goes to a lot of events.”

OR Earth tries to contact Raquel Pacheco’s defense, but receives no response until the last update of this report. The space remains open for demonstrations.
