“It was magical to see my father, for the first time, as a fan, come out of the locker room with the same bright eyes with which people always look at him,” said Augusto Nascimento

A Photography of the meeting between Milton Nascimento AND Paul McCartney was published on the Brazilian’s Instagram this Sunday the 17th. In the image, both appear smiling, with Milton wearing a Paul t-shirt and Paul holding Milton’s LPs.

Nascimento’s son Augusto took to his Instagram to provide more details about how the photo was taken and the family’s relationship with the Beatles, the band that brought McCartney to global stardom in the 1950s.

“My father and I had the chance to meet our idol together. And it was magical to see him, for the first time, in the role of a fan. Leaving the locker room with the same bright eyes that people always look at him everywhere”, he reported, regarding the moment of the photo. Milton went to the show held in Belo Horizonte, on December 4th.

According to him, up until a certain age, the Beatles’ songs were a source of discussion. Even though his son didn’t like it, his father was the “biggest fan in the world” of the band. Tudou changed when Augusto found out The long and winding road and it changed his perception.

Since then, the quartet formed by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrisson has become a “religion” in the house. “We have souvenirs everywhere, I have a tattoo, we discovered alternative songs, we explored the solo careers of each of the members and we delve into this vast and beautiful musical universe every day,” he says.

After learning that the singer’s tour would pass through Brazil, Augusto planned to try to attend all the shows – in the end, he managed to go to eight of the nine shows. This led him to get closer to the show’s organizing team, Bonus Track, and, from there, to the meeting between the two music icons.

“My favorite moments with my father are our days on the road, and these moments have become absolutely full and full of this magnificent discography. We listen to the Beatles from the front door, to the final destination, always,” says Augusto.

Milton Nascimento went to Paul McCartney’s show in Belo Horizonte on December 4, together with fellow musician Lô Borges. In a video he highlighted the possibility of living “timeless dreams” by listening to the song A night of a hard day.
