The attack suffered by Mingau occurred around 11pm, when the bassist was driving at high speed near Praça do Ovo, located in the Ilha das Cobras neighbourhood. According to police information, the criminals surrounded the vehicle and fired numerous shots, hitting the musician in the head.

The medical team at the Hugo Miranda municipal hospital, where Mingau was initially treated, reported that the musician was hospitalized with a serious wound caused by a gunshot wound to the head. He was subsequently transferred to the São Luiz do Itaim hospital, in Sao Paulo, on a plane equipped with intensive care provided by the air taxi company Air Jet.
