The King of the English has spoken out in favor of alternative treatments while doctors reaffirm the importance of conventional medicine
He believes the king will create a “blend” of traditional medicine and unconventional treatments to seek a cure for cancer. Details about the illness were not revealed.
Buckingham Palace simply said that it was not prostate cancer, eliminating the suspicion raised by the press after the 75-year-old monarch underwent surgery to correct the abnormal enlargement of the gland.
Closely linked to botany, Charles III always defended the use of medicinal plants. The ‘Daily Mail’ newspaper recalls that in 2004 he spoke in favor of the Gerson therapy to fight cancer.
He also suggested that the treatment be incorporated into the NHS, England’s public health service. “The doctors withdrew their requests and the therapy was never adopted by the national health service, being available only in specialized private clinics,” the publication informs.
Created by the German doctor Max Gerson in the 1920s, the treatment consists of a menu with a significant daily quantity of organic foods and the consumption of several glasses of natural juices, in addition to intestinal washing with coffee to detoxify the body. This practice is not recognized by conventional medicine.
One of his supporters was the actor Leo Rosa, famous for starring in the soap operas Globo and Record. He created an online crowdfunding to pay for the trip to Mexico, where he underwent the Gerson therapy at a private clinic. At the time he had shared his stay in posts on social media.
As his testicular cancer worsened, the artist resorted to chemotherapy sessions in the urology department of the National Cancer Institute (INCA), in Rio, and died on March 9, 2021, at the age of 37. His latest work was a special appearance in the role of a television reporter in Globo’s “Amor de Mãe”.
Crowned in May 2023, Charles III also believes in homeopathy. The doctor who cares for the royal family, Dr Michael Dixon, is known for his support of complementary therapies.
He believes, for example, that some herbal medicines can cure cancer. This position has led him to be harshly criticized by UK academics and scientists who see no evidence of the findings.
According to Kristina Kyriacou and another former press secretary of Charles, Julian Payne, the current head of the Windsor dynasty eats a hearty breakfast, with fruit salad, juices and lots of seeds, including flax seeds. “He looks like a little bird,” the former employee said.
The king is not in the habit of having lunch. Light, organic food for dinner. It is customary to abstain from consuming meat and dairy products on certain days of the week. Before his prostate abnormality and cancer diagnosis, he had never had any serious health problems.
