“A lot of people were touched by it,” Amaury says of the importance of the Ramiro character

The actor and dancer Amauri Lorenzo39 years old, he gained national fame playing the character of Ramiro Land and passionsoap opera Rede Globoand counted interview with Estadão on the value of his work and the importance of the representation of his characters. “I want to bring black and LGBT+ issues to the public, to broaden discussions and strengthen debates,” says the actor.

For him, the fame of the character Ramiro is a sign of opportunity: “It’s nice to see the public go to the theater to meet Ramiro and, little by little, realize that they have moved away from the soap opera character to follow a story that deals with violence, racism and intolerance”, he declares.

“Ramiro was a killer whose character was transformed by love and many people were touched by the story,” explains the actor.

Amaury now hosts the show FightIvan Jaf’s adaptation of the third part of the novel The Sertõesby Euclides da Cunha (1866-1909), who gave him an interesting interaction at Cuiabá airport, as he disembarked to perform on the city’s stages.

Still with his suitcase in hand, the artist was approached by a somewhat nervous young man who said he had come from Rondônia to see him at the theater and wanted to share a part of his life with him. “He told me that he was expelled from home because he was homosexual and, after twelve years without contact with his family, he received a phone call from his father asking for forgiveness and telling him that he had begun to understand him because of the soap opera”, says L interpreter of Ramiro.

“It’s so nice to see the scope of a debate generated by television in such a diverse country that I can’t help but be proud,” he concludes.

The presentation of Fight arrives in Sao Paulo in May.
