Iris Apfel, who defied time, fashion and the opinions of others, has died at the age of 102

Being her own person, she never wanted to follow trends. She was one of the first women to wear jeans. She created an exaggerated and harmonious style. Glasses with huge round frames were her trademark, as was the use of numerous bracelets and impeccably combed short hair.

Apfel was not afraid of colors, prints and mixtures. Not even from the opinions of others. This is, in fact, the greatest lesson that he leaves to his disciples, indeed to anyone: to live according to one’s own will, without worrying about the evaluation of others. When she was 93, Iris received a documentary on Netflix. The human side stood out on the exotic figure. The viewer discovers the loving wife who enjoyed her fun husband, Carl, who died at the age of 100 shortly after filming. They lived together for almost seven decades. They had no children.
