Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend calls for the investigation into the actor’s death to be reopened

In an interview with the British newspaper The mirrorKayti Edwards, the actor’s ex-girlfriend Matthew Perryhas aroused suspicion in relation to the investigation that investigated the actor’s death, which occurred in 2023. Perry was found dead in the bathtub of his home in Los Angeles, US, on 28 October, aged 54. The autopsy, at the time, revealed that the actor had died from drowning and from “acute effects of ketamine”, an anesthetic that has hallucinogenic effects.

According to the ex-girlfriend of the character’s interpreter, Chandler, Perry knew how to get people to do what he wanted, for example by giving them extra doses of ketamine.

“He had a way of letting people do things for them, saying ‘I’ll give you this amount of money if you keep your mouth shut and take this from me,’” Kayti told the newspaper.

Matthew Perry was found in a hot tub at his Los Angeles-area home on October 28, 2023. Police found no drugs at the scene. The case then went under investigation.

Although police found no illicit drugs, in Matthew Perry’s home there were antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a drug for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, used by those suffering from emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Matthew has been a lifelong smoker.

In January 2024, Los Angeles authorities said they would no longer investigate the cause of the actor’s death. The Los Angeles medical examiner also says on his website that the case has been closed.

According to the medical autopsy report, Perry died due to the “acute effects of ketamine,” a tranquilizing anesthetic drug for large animals, such as horses. The death was considered accidental.

“Contributing factors to Mr. Perry’s death include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder),” a police statement on the report read.
