Stepan Nercessian reflects on old age: “I think a lot about the quality of death”

Stepan Nercessianmusical star King of the rock (production that tells the story of Elvis Presley), admits to feeling the burden of being 70 years old to keep up with the pace of work required by the stage. After all, it’s three hours on stage. At weekends, two sessions per day are held, for a total of six hours of work.

In an interview with Quem magazine, Stepan spoke about the difficulty of keeping up with the pace of work at his age. “It’s horrible to be 70 and have a young soul. You were supposed to grow old together […] You want to do things, but the body feels it, the body weighs, the body has no agility. The joints, the knee, the foot, the heel and so on start to hurt,” she said.

The actor quit smoking last year to try to improve his quality of life. “People talk a lot about the quality of life and I think a lot about the quality of death […] You have to prepare what the end of your life will be like, if you want your life to have a comfortable end. I’m not saying healthy, but comfortable.”

Despite giving up his smoking habit, he confessed that he still misses nicotine and that he has gained 10kg since the last cigarette he smoked. “Just yesterday I finished the show and was looking for one, but I managed to stop and it’s been a year,” he explained.
