BC suspends enforcement measures against debtors in Rio Grande do Sul for 90 days

The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Bank has decided to suspend for 90 days enforcement measures against the institution’s debtors residing in Rio Grande do Sul due to the public disaster that occurred in the state due to rains and floods.

According to a BC memo released Tuesday, the decision suspends the registration of state debtors in active debt, the sending of active debt certificates for protest and the filing of tax garnishments.

The measure will not affect Central Bank credits at risk of statute of limitations.

On Monday, the Attorney General of the National Treasury (PGFN) published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Journal of the Union an ordinance containing exceptional measures relating to the collection of installments of the Union’s active debt, due to the situation in Rio Grande do Sul .
