In his new autobiographical book, Prince of Darkness reports that he met the English monarch “several times” – and that they both had a “good laugh” together

How about an unlikely friendship, but full of “good laughs” between the Prince of Darkness and the King of England, at the time a Prince? This was the relationship developed by Ozzy Osbourne with the King Charlesas the late vocalist reports in his new autobiographical book, Last Rites (2025).

According to Ozzy, he met “several times” with Charles III over the years and even created a good relationship with the monarch. He got to the point where he received a gift when he was seriously injured in a quad bike accident in 2003.

According to Ozzy’s account in the book (with transcreation of the Metal Hammer), on that occasion the King presented him with a bottle of Scotch whiskey. However, the gift ended up being confiscated by his wife, Sharon Osbourne.

Ozzy counts on Last Ritesinitially, who got along very well with Charles:

“Every time I see him, we have a good laugh.”

And then he makes a surprising revelation about the unusual gift he received but was unable to take advantage of:

“The only problem was that Sharon confiscated the bottle before I could get my hands on it.”

Ozzy Osbourne and British royalty

According to the website HoneyOzzy Osbourne’s first meeting with British royalty took place in 2002. On that occasion, he was invited to sing in front of the Buckingham Palace at a concert commemorating the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Ozzy sang “Paranoid”classic of Black Sabbathand had his first contact with Charles, at the time still a prince — he would become king in 2022, with the death of his mother, the queen Elizabeth II.

At the time, he joked and told the Press Association:

“I’m on my best behavior. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in the Tower. I shouldn’t drop my pants, swear, or maybe a trap will open.”
