To the Extra newspaper, the 26-year-old originally from Gonçalo recalled the entire hair transition process, which began ten years ago. ‘‘I started transitioning my hair when I was 16. It has been very difficult for society to accept our curly hair, due to structural racism.

“It was liberating”

”We lived with that aesthetic where only straight hair was seen as beautiful, since our hair was always considered “ugly, dirty, hard”. He was liberating when this acceptance of curly hair came ”, said the transman.
