The Internet is unforgiving. After Neymar and Luana Piovani had exchanged insults on social media in recent days, internet users remembered an old photo in which the two appear side by side, with Piovani’s ex-husband, Pedro Scooby. In the caption, Neymar wrote, “Oh, beautiful family.”

The image was posted by Neymar on Instagram on November 13, 2012. In it, the actress is holding Dom, her first child with Scooby, on her lap.

At the time, Neymar was still a player for Santos Futebol Clube, and the meeting took place backstage at TV Globo, when the player attended Domingão do Faustão, according to a report from Globo Esporte.

Despite the memory of the friendship between the two, nowadays the situation between the actress and the player is not friendly at all. Luana Piovani and Neymar exchanged barbs on the internet this Thursday 30th, after the actress had underlined that the footballer is in favor of the privatization of Brazilian beaches by the PEC.

Understand the struggle

The proposed amendment to the Constitution will transfer naval lands in urban areas of the Union to states and municipalities or to private owners. The decision is rejected by environmentalists, who point out that the situation could create space for private beaches in Brazil.

Neymar has released a project with the DUE company which involves developments on the coast of Pernambuco and Alagoas. As he says in an Instagram video, the idea is to “transform the north-east coast and bring a lot of social and economic development to the region”. The speech drew criticism from activists and the public.

Luana Piovani made videos on the topic on Instagram stories. “We have to have this kind of wear and tear. How should we fight not to privatize the beaches? And here comes this ignoble man, this former idol, who has done so much… Of course he did it, otherwise he would be what he is today. But how can a person end up with everything he built like that,” he asked.

Neymar responded to the actress’s post by calling her “crazy”, among other insults. Subsequently, the player’s team published a position note complaining about the “total disconnection of his private initiative with the PEC 03/2022”.
