Former BBB Matteus Amaral is accused of defrauding racial quotas to get into college

“BBB 24” runner-up, Matteus Amaral was embroiled in huge controversy when he was accused of racial quota fraud; understand!

Matteo Amaralrunner up ‘BBB 24‘, caused a huge controversy this week by engaging in racial quota fraud. According to Notícias da TV, the gaucho had declared himself black to secure a place in the Agricultural Engineering course at the IFFar (Instituto Federal Farroupilha).

In the documents Matteus Amaral Vargas declares himself ‘black’ to guarantee entry through quotas, i.e. places reserved for ethnic-racial groups. Despite this, in the preliminary result published on January 17, 2014, the boy did not get the place after being disqualified for writing a poor essay.

However, weeks later, it appeared he had been accepted for a place on the Agricultural Engineering course through racial quotas, but at different notice. During the confinement he even talked about graduating, confessing that he had studied until the fifth semester.

It is worth mentioning that Brazil’s quota law targets groups of Black, Brown, Indigenous, low-income, and people with disabilities applicants in higher education, as a response to the country’s historic inequality of access to education. So far Matteus has not commented on the controversy.
