Rich roles marked Jacqueline Laurence’s career in soap operas

Does the role require a sophisticated actress? Call Jacqueline Laurence! The actress, victim of cardiac arrest at the age of 91, has collected similar characters in television dramas.

She was a luxurious housekeeper and friend on several occasions of wealthy protagonists. In the 1978 classic “Dancin’ Days,” she played antique shop owner Solange, responsible for taking her friend and ex-convict Julia (Sônia Braga) to a “bathroom shop” in Europe.

In the modern-day ‘Top Model,’ she played Simone, a high-class nanny trying to teach manners to an indomitable boy. Memé from “The Moon Said Me” had a similar function.

In “O Dono do Mundo”, the actress stood out in the role of Zoraide, a gallery owner who is the best friend of the pimp Olga (Fernanda Montenegro). The two made a great couple, especially in the drinking and gossiping scenes.

With a pleasant accent and sharp humor, Jacqueline Laurence has always been an interesting figure on television, even if her talent lacked great challenge.

It was a sort of talisman for two authors: Gilberto Braga, who was French speaking, and Miguel Falabella. He spent most of his career at Globo, with some work at Band, Record and the now defunct TV Manchete.

Born in Marseille and the daughter of a journalist, the artist arrived in Brazil as a teenager and soon became part of the theater community. She was the sister of Michel Laurence, one of the biggest names in sports journalism, and she was the aunt of the television journalist Bruno Laurence.
