Michael Richards, “Seinfeld’s” Kramer, reveals he is the result of rape; understand

Actor Michael Richards, Kramer da Seinfeldhe claims to have discovered as an adult that he was born following the sexual violence suffered by his mother.

The revelation is made in the actor’s memoir, Entrances and exits (Entrances and exitsin free translation), released at the beginning of June in the United States and unreleased in Brazil.

According to Richards, 75, his mother claimed his father died during World War II. Over the years the story has changed: his father died in a car accident when he was a child.

Distraught, the comedian pressured his mother, who revealed the sexual assault. At the time, abortion was still prohibited in the United States, and Richards was given up for adoption. His mother, however, changed her mind and decided to raise him alone.

“I had to come to terms with the fact that it wasn’t a planned child or that my mother wanted to get rid of me,” he says in an interview with the American publication People.

Emmy winner for SeinfeldRichards fell into ostracism after racist attacks at a comedy show in the US in 2006. At the time, he was booed by the audience and told they should “respect the white man”, among other racist insults .
