Actress Shannen Doherty, who died this Saturday, the 13th, after a battle with cancer, had publicly revealed that she had warned her ex-husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, of the risk of her death. In addition, in April of this year, she had already decided to donate all her assets.

“I told him [ex-marido]: ‘You have to enjoy every second you have with me because I’m going to be dead in five years,'” she revealed to ET.

As for donating her belongings, she explained on her podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, that she wanted to make things less difficult for her mother: “I know it’s going to be hard for her. [a mãe] in case I die before her. Since I know it will be heavy for her, I want the rest to be lighter. I don’t want you to have to deal with a lot of things. I don’t want you to have to deal with four furniture boxes.”

Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 at the age of 44. Since then, the actress has undergone multiple surgeries, chemotherapy sessions and alternative treatments. In 2016, she revealed that the disease had spread to other organs. “

I had breast cancer that had spread to my lymph nodes, and after one of my surgeries, we found out that some of the cancer cells might actually be coming out of my lymph nodes,” she also told ET. Last year, the disease progressed to her brain and bones.

“On January 5th, my CT scan showed metastases in my brain. The video showed the process of adjusting the mask you wear during radiation therapy sessions on your brain. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life,” he said in a social media post.

The fight against cancer and divorce

In an episode of her podcast, Shannen explained the reasons that led her to divorce her husband. “Obviously, divorce is not easy, especially when you really love someone. And I loved my husband. And when you’re so hurt by his actions that you feel betrayed and stupid, it’s really hard,” she said. She was married to Kurt Iswarienko for 11 years and said that the health issues she faced were the deciding factor in the separation. “I have no idea how long I’ll have to go through chemotherapy,” she said.

Known for her role as Brenda on “Barrados no Baile” and her appearances on “Charmed” and “Dancing with the Stars,” Shannen has also reportedly changed her perspective on fame after dealing with the disease.

According to Quem, in 2016, she received the American Cancer Society’s Courage Award for being open about her condition. “Cancer has changed my life for the better. It’s made me a better human being. I’ve overcome every wall and every barrier. It exposes the lies in your life. It exposes who’s not really there for you and who is. You can just look around and think, ‘Oh my God, this person is amazing, they’re with me in a way that I never expected,’” she said.

The biggest challenge, she said, was dealing with the uncertainty of the disease. “The unknown is always the scariest part. Will the chemotherapy work? Will the radiation work? You know, am I going to have to go through this again or am I going to get a secondary cancer? Everything else is manageable. The pain is manageable. You know what it’s like to live without breasts, and the worry is what your future is going to look like and how it’s going to affect your future for the people you love. I started to think I wasn’t going to survive… But now I don’t look back anymore,” she said.
