Branco Mello Resurfaces After Announcement of Surgery to Remove Tumor: ‘Prepared for the Challenge’

Titã’s singer and bassist will be away from shows indefinitely

Branco Mello, from Titãs, thanked the support he received from his fans after announcing a new surgery to remove a tumor in his tonsils. “Dear friends, how wonderful the energy and positive vibration I receive from all of you at this moment. I am calm and ready to overcome this challenge,” wrote the musician on Instagram this Sunday 28.

On July 23, Branco Mello spoke about the early-stage tumor, discovered during a routine examination.

The musician has been battling the recurrence of tumors affecting the throat area since 2020, when the disease was first diagnosed. At that time, Mello underwent radiation and chemotherapy.

In 2021, he had to undergo surgery to remove his larynx, affecting his left vocal cord. In 2022, a new tumor, this time at the base of his tongue, led to another surgery. A hemorrhage left him in critical condition in intensive care.

The musician underwent speech therapy, which allowed him to tour with the band on their big tour Titans – Encounterbetween 2023 and 2024.
