This was one of the main differences among the audience that followed closely the program of the presenter, who died this Saturday, 17, at the age of 93, in Sao Paulo.

Silvio Santos has never publicly explained the reason for this selectivity. The presenter called the women in the audience his own. “colleagues”.

In 2021, his faithful stage assistant and director of the SBT auditorium, Gonçalo Roque, provided a clue that might help understand this preference for female audiences.

In an interview with the site NaTelinhaRoque said: “Men don’t applaud, they are all jealous. Women are a madness that comes from nature, they are more lively”

The stage assistant recalled the case of a man who dressed as a woman to participate in the Silvio Santos Program: “His dream was to meet Silvio Santos, he came dressed as a woman, he came in, he watched the program. When the program ended, the guard became suspicious, he started undressing, he threw away his shoes.”
