The daughters of the presenter Silvio Santos, Patrícia and Rebeca Abravanel, took to social media this Sunday, 18, to acknowledge the tributes paid to their father. Silvio was buried this morning at the Cemitério Israelita do Butantã, west of São Paulo.

The presenter died on Saturday 17th at the age of 93, due to bronchopneumonia resulting from an H1N1 infection. He had been hospitalized at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, since the first of this month. Silvio Santos left behind his wife Íris, six daughters, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The text, signed by the Abravanel family, emphasizes that Silvio “knew he was loved, but had no idea how much.” In addition to thanking him for the affection and tributes he received, the family emphasized that they will work “to bring” the public “joy, information and entertainment as they have always done.”

Dear Brazilian public,

We want to thank you for your affection, respect and all the tributes that have been paid to our father.

We hope he sees and receives all this love. He knew he was loved, but he had no idea how much.

We will strive and work to bring you joy, information and entertainment the same way we always have.

May its essence remain in the SBT and may the SBT continue to be made by and for Brazilians.

Just as he loved you, we love you too. We feel embraced by thousands and thousands. We want to send our hugs here, we ratify our bond of gratitude with each of you.
