Origin of the project

Alien: Romulus is the seventh feature film in the Alien saga (besides the crossover in the Predator franchise). The film is chronologically placed between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). The action takes place in 2180.

The idea for the film was born from a scene from Aliens Returns (1986) – featured in the extended version of James Cameron’s feature film – where we see children running through the corridors of the colony planet Acheron. Director Fede Alvarez then had the idea to tell the story of these twenty-year-olds.

Director Fede Alvarez discussed what would become of Alien: Romulus for the first time during a visit to Scott Free Production (produced by Ridley Scott, director of Alien, Prometheus and Covenant):
