Current artistic director of SBT, Daniela Beyruti will face the difficult task of directing the station founded by her father, Silvio Santos, who died last Saturday (aged 17) due to bronchopneumonia.
On the day the channel celebrates 43 years of existence, the executive decided to send a letter to all the company’s employees to encourage them to build a new history. “The new generation of SBT is born,” he says in the statement.

“Colleagues,
By some mystery, the Lord took our leader two days before we turned 43. As many of you know, he loved SBT; it was his life. He marked our stories and our lives with his unique way of being. He was an inspiration even when he said nothing and just greeted people. He never thought he was bigger or better than anyone else. In his eyes there was respect and admiration for everyone. He considered others as equals and that was beautiful.
I am writing to you because I know how much he valued each of his associates. One of the greatest joys he had with companies was knowing that he was hiring people and offering job opportunities, something he always honored. He honored every opportunity he was given and knew that the work was of great value.
I’ve seen him come in to record here a couple of times feeling sick and in pain, but he didn’t leave the trailers and the production behind. That was him. Integrity, commitment, disciplined and very dedicated. I loved what I did! I loved it!
Today we have a great responsibility in our hands. He left us with his collaborators, with his programs and with his beloved station. It is up to each of us to ensure that his story continues, that SBT continues to be, bringing joy, information and entertainment to people as he loved to do.
Coincidentally, today, 08/19/2024, 43 years after the birth of SBT, ‘S’, +SBT was born. The new generation of SBT is born. SBT today grows and begins a new phase, broadening its horizons and reaching a new milestone.
Our streaming platform is born, which will be accessible to all Brazilians, just like our boss wanted. People will be able to watch us wherever and however they want! It will be SBT, but much more!
Our hearts are hurt, really hurt, but now we have to be strong and roll up our sleeves to keep this legacy alive. The SBT is so loved that we have to take care of it so that it continues to be what it has always been for all Brazilians.
We are together! May God bless us and allow us to live in the present, honoring the past and planning for the future! I am counting on you.”
