Fernanda Montenegro on finiteness: “I’m very surprised”

A video shot behind the scenes of the show “Alma Despejada”, starring Irene Ravache, has moved many people.

In it, right after the presentation, Fernanda Montenegro tells her friend about the shock she felt after Nicete Bruno’s death. “When Nicete left, I felt an incredible sense of finality. Every time someone from our memory goes away,” she says. “I have never seen Nicete without smiling. I made my debut in the theater next to her. She was happy. (…) It was the first time I felt that way.”

Fernanda, now 94, begins to reflect on the departure of her generation. “I’m very surprised, you know? So many people come. So many people not only from our area, but also from our cultural memory,” she says.

As far as we’re concerned, legends like you will always be eternal, Fernanda.
