The Court of Justice of São Paulo has confirmed the prison sentence of singer Leandro Lehart, after rejecting the appeal presented by his defense. The musician will now have to serve nine years, seven months and six days in prison, in a closed cell, on charges of rape and false imprisonment. The information was released by the column of journalist Rogério Gentile, of UOL.

The trial will be held under judicial secrecy, TJ informed. Earth. The decision was published on Monday 16. The crime occurred in 2019, when he raped a woman with whom he had been in a relationship for two years and kept her locked in the bathroom of his home. He also allegedly subjected the woman to degrading and scatological situations.

The singer can still file a new appeal at liberty. He denies the crimes.

Leandro Lehart is the founder of the group pagode Art Popular. After being convicted in the first instance, in 2022, he released a statement in which he said he was the victim of a great injustice.

“I am the victim of a great injustice, but the truth will prevail. It has been 40 years of career and 50 years of life believing in Justice and, even if it is late, it does not fail. And evil will never prevail,” he wrote at the time.

The TJ decided to uphold the conviction by majority vote, with only one judge saying that there was not enough materiality in the charges against him. The singer will still be able to file a new appeal to the Superior Court of Justice (third degree).
