Brazilian enters Portuguese reality show, discovers farce and becomes favorite

A Brazilian immigrant became the most popular participant in the early days of the reality show ‘Casa dos Segredos’, on the TVI channel. Maycon moved with his family to Portugal when he was 4 years old. Today he is 24 years old.

He lives in Nazaré, a coastal village frequented by surfers looking for big waves. He works as a skateboarding instructor and MC at parties. He wears dreadlocks and has a laid-back style.

The opinion poll of the first week of the program ranked Maycon as the favorite contestant of the viewers. “You have a good atmosphere,” commented a local journalist.

The Brazilian with the hybrid accent entered the reality show as an accomplice to another contestant, Renata. The two pretended to be a couple, as part of the ‘secrets’ (real or not) kept by all the contestants. The fun is in finding out who is hiding what.

On the 3rd day, the fake relationship was exposed by a fellow prisoner. To everyone’s surprise, Renata seems to have really grown fond of Maycon. Some believe that the feeling is just an act to try to gain admirers and avoid elimination.

Version of a French reality show (“La Maison des Secrets”) belonging to the same producer Endemol as “Big Brother”, the Portuguese “Casa dos Segredos” is in its eighth season. There will be 108 days of broadcast until December 31. The prize is 100 thousand euros, equivalent to R$ 611 thousand at the current price.
