Leonardo responds to criticism for drinking while giving birth to his grandson and jokes: ‘Let the people talk’

Leonardo responded to criticism for drinking during the birth of José Leonardo, the third child of José Felipe and Virginia. The singer asked what the problem was and joked: “Every grandchild that is born gets us (sic) more cirrhosis.”

“I received some criticism, constructive criticism. But what’s wrong with me drinking a whiskey at the birth of my nephew Zé Leonardo?”, he said.

The comment was made at Portal Leo Dias, backstage at the Cabaré show, Saturday 28th, in Rio de Janeiro. He recalled that when Zé Felipe was born he also drank in honor. “When Zé Felipe was born, I drank about five liters of whisky. We sang until dawn, we even went to the police there,” he said.

“And with every grandchild that is born, we have (sic) more cirrhosis. Keep drinking, keep drinking. One comes, one must go, right, so… it was really nice. Let’s let people talk, if people talk it’s because they remember us,” he joked.

Bruno, from the duo with Marrone, who is part of the show, said that he too was drinking when his children were born. “I took them all to the hospital,” he said.
