Since September 2022, Bruninho Samudio, son of Eliza Samudio and former goalkeeper Bruno, has not received the pension amount that should be paid by his biological father. The court had ordered the payment of two minimum wages a month, but during the 14 years of the teenager’s life this rarely happened. Today Bruno’s debt to his son reaches R$5 million, as reported by the newspaper Extra.

“Eliza died for this, trying to guarantee the rights of her son, which never happened. I continue to chase the same thing and Bruninho continues to be neglected,” said Sônia Moura, the boy’s grandmother, in a ‘interview with Extra.

With Bruninho’s recent move to Rio de Janeiro, where he is training as a goalkeeper at Botafogo’s youth team, the trial currently underway in court will be moved to the city. “It goes back to where it all began,” commented Sônia.

In 2022 Bruno held a raffle with signed t-shirts in an attempt to pay some installments of his pension, a measure taken to avoid his arrest for non-compliance. He has made no further payments since then and a foreclosure order was issued in 2023 to try to cover some of the debt.

The former Flamengo goalkeeper, convicted of Eliza’s murder in 2010, appears to have no assets to his name. The farm where Eliza spent her last days, in Esmeraldas (MG), was sold and the proceeds were divided between Bruno, his ex-wife Dayane (mother of his two daughters), and a small part destined for Bruninho. This sum was used to pay the lawyers who have handled the case since Bruno’s arrest in 2013.

Furthermore, Bruno sold an apartment in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes, western Rio, in an attempt to escape financial obligations to his son. However, the court annulled the agreement and the property, worth around R$1.5 million, will be auctioned to reduce the debt.

In addition to the pensions owed, Bruno also owes Bruninho more than 1 million reais for moral damages, the result of a trial in which the former goalkeeper lost in all cases, including the STF (Federal Supreme Court).
