The singer Leonardo paid R$225,000 in compensation to the six workers rescued in slavery-like conditions in one of his farms in Jussara (GO). The information was confirmed at Earth by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

In addition to the compensation, the compatriot incurred another fine of R$94,063.24, as lawyer Paulo Vaz explained to the news agency. g1. “We solved all the problems of the farm, even though it was rented. These people were paid the full compensation and we accepted the agreement proposed by the Public Prosecutor”, he explained to the site.

In a recent update of the “dirty list” of slave labor, Fazenda Talismã appears with a record six workers involved. The property is located in the municipality of Jussara (GO), just over 220 kilometers from Goiânia, the state capital.

Leonardo, however, explained that the inspection took place at the Lakanka Farm, a property rented to another person, and denied having anything to do with what happened. Through social media he also expressed himself as “surprised and very sad” at the inclusion of his name on the list.

‘Dirty list’ of jobs analogous to slavery

The list is a record of employers who have subjected workers to conditions similar to slavery. In total, the investigation includes 727 names. Among the 176 included last Monday, 22 employers operate in the coal production sector, 17 in livestock farming, 14 in mineral extraction and 11 in coffee cultivation and civil construction, among other sectors. 85 employers who had completed two years of registration in the register were also excluded from the update.

The list is updated every six months. According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the inclusion of employers takes place “only after the conclusion of the administrative procedure which judges the specific employment relationship to be similar to slavery, with a consequent final administrative decision of origin”.
