Sumida da TV, former Globo star, is recognized in the SP autograph line

On Wednesday evening (9), a friend of the column surprised one of the greatest Brazilian actresses – perhaps the best known abroad – queuing for autographs at the Livraria da Travessa, in Pinheiros, west of the capital São Paulo.

Lucélia Santos patiently waited her turn to greet Heloísa Périssé and receive a dedication on her copy of ‘Cheia de Graça’, a work in which the comedian recounts her spiritual experience.

The protagonist of ‘Escrava Isaura’ (1976), ‘Vereda Tropical’ (1984) and ‘Sinhá Moça’ (1986), has not worked in television drama on TV Globo since 2001, when she made a season of the series ‘Malhação’.

In the podcast “Embrulha sem Roteiro” she said that the demand for image rights and better working conditions had made her “persona non grata” on the Marinho family channel.

“How many years has it been since you saw me do a soap opera?” he asked. “There’s really no invitation. This word cancellation is new, but the action of canceling is old.”

Lucélia said she paid the price for not being afraid of retaliation when she was active in the arts class and was a left-wing activist. “If you want to preserve your job, shut up. This is demagogy, hypocrisy, but it is today’s reality,” he said. “I am fearless. I’m going to fight, I’m going to talk, I’m going to debate.”

At 67, the actress dedicates herself to theatre. The most recent show, ‘Vozes da Floresta’, is about his friendship with rubber tapper leader Chico Mendes and the fight to preserve the Amazon rainforest and the people who inhabit it.

Famous in the four corners of the planet thanks to the screening of ‘Escrava Isaura’, Lucélia Santos is often interviewed by foreign broadcasters. In September he welcomed the team of the Russian channel 1TV to Rio, where he has many fans.
