British singer Liam Payneformer member of the group One Direction, was trying to escape from his hotel room when he fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and died. The case happened on October 16 and moved the world. He was 31 years old and left behind a son.

According to the newspaper New York Posthotel staff knew the singer had threatened to use the balcony as an escape route, a report showed. He was staying in suite 310, one of the hotel’s 16 rooms with a balcony.

The artist did not like being confined to hotel rooms and was drunk when he was dragged across the lobby by staff. The scene was filmed by security cameras. When employees arrived in the room, the singer fought back and didn’t want to go in, according to the video.

Moments later, a hotel employee called 911 and said he was afraid Payne might use the balcony to hurt himself, indicating the hotel was aware a serious accident could happen, according to police. New York Post.

“I don’t know if his life could be in danger. He’s in a room with a balcony and, well, we’re a little scared…” the employee said, according to the transcript of the emergency call obtained by the channel TMZ.

Liam died immediately after falling and suffering a fractured skull, as well as multiple injuries. The fall occurred from a height of 13.7 metres. According to the Argentine Public Prosecutor he had “multiple traumas” and “internal and external haemorrhages”.

Hours earlier, Buenos Aires police had been called to the hotel following an emergency call. There was an aggressive man at the scene who was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The audio of the phone call with the owner and manager of the hotel where the singer was staying was later released. The former One Direction member fell from the balcony and died shortly after the call.

After the death, images of how the room was found were released. The photos show a broken television, glasses and bottles of alcoholic beverages. Traces of various substances were found on a piece of furniture, such as candles, white powder, a lighter, a burnt can, aluminum foil, a glass and the remains of a soap box. Remains of wax and crumpled and burnt aluminum foil were found in the bathtub.

The funeral of singer Liam Payne brought together relatives and friends last Wednesday the 20th in Amersham, England. Former bandmates from One Direction, the group that made the artist famous, were also present.
