According to the documents obtained by the newspaper The IndependentA 26 -year -old woman says that Schrader has annoyed her sexually for years. The news emerged after the director would return to an agreement that would have been made between the parties in February.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, opened an agreement complaint in a New York court on Thursday 3. Menaka Fernando, the former assistant lawyer, told the publication that “he is simply trying to enforce the agreement between the parties to resolve his accusations of harassment and sexual aggression”.

Already Philip Kessler, Schrader’s lawyer, defined the action “a desperate, frivolous and opportunistic affirmation”. “And to be very clear, Mr. Schrader never had sex in any way with the author of the action, nor has he ever tried to do such a thing. We will defend ourselves vigorously,” he said.

The process states that the harassment took place between May 2021 and September 2024 and cites episodes in which the screenwriter would have kissed the woman to force and exposed his intimate parts against his will. One of the cases would have occurred during the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, when Schrader published the film Oh, Canadaplayed by Richard Gere and Jacob Elordi.
